Sixth graders take a field trip to learn about rocks
Sixth graders attended the Gem and Mineral Show today at the Rose Garden Center. Students were treated to a gold panning demonstration and gem making demonstrations along with seeing many beautiful rocks, minerals and fossils. They even touched fossilized dinosaur poop. Students were in awe of the 鈥渇ood table鈥� which was made up of actual rocks and minerals that sometimes looked exactly like food items. A display of rocks that glow in the dark was a favorite of most. Finally, students were allowed to shop and purchases geodes which were cut open for them displaying beautiful crystals inside. It was a field trip that really rocks!
