How one frog influenced the two-day college trip

From the desk of Celia Tucker, Academic College Counselor:

When I woke up in the wee morning hours on Wednesday to get ready to leave for the 10th grade college trip, I heard the rain falling on the sky light.

“Oh man,” I thought to myself. “This rain is going to mess up our trip–we are going to get wet, possibly be delayed…” and on and on, really having a little pity party for myself.

When I got to school and started going in and out of the building to load supplies, I kept walking past this super happy, little frog sitting on the walkway. I stopped in my tracks.

“That’s it,” I said to myself as I realized God once again was putting me in my place.

That little, super happy frog was in his element (perfect weather for him) and it dawned on me that sometimes I might have to be a little inconvenienced so that someone else can be in their element. The pity party ended and the celebratory anticipation began.

Exploring college campuses, being with the best sophomore class in America, spending time with colleagues and friends and making memories in the rain was just the beginning of a super adventure. And what a great adventure it was!

Houston Baptist University, The University of Houston, and Sam Houston State University rolled out the red carpet. On our trip students experienced the feel of a small, private university; a large, public university; and a medium, public university. We saw and heard from 91èÏÈÉú alumni Sam Marrs, Travis King and Adam Traylor; played laser tag, bowled, played games, walked and walked and walked (11 miles over two days) and realized that a little rain is just icing on the cake.

Here’s to happy little frogs and being thankful for God’s constant little reminders about how to live life.
