Middle School Retreat

From the desk of Tammy Hayes, Middle School Principal:

There is nothing like “dead week” at 91猫先生! Though there isn’t anybody in the huddle, there is lots if camaraderie going on! With seniors traveling to Catalina Island and the junior roadtrip across four Texas colleges, it is definitely the week for the middle school to jump on a聽bus and head out for two days.

This is exactly what we聽did this past week for our聽annual middle school retreat!聽 The 91猫先生 Middle School loaded up four buses and three suburbans to go all of an hour-and-a-half to Grapeland, TX where they enjoyed two action-packed days at Frontier Camp! Students聽spent time together in activities like wakeboarding, tomahawk throwing, chasing each other in the woods in lasertag, archery, horseback riding, and more!

The theme for this year’s retreat was “All the good stuff is in the Middle,” and it certainly was this week! To top off this beginning-of-the-year-tone-setting-event, students聽had chapel and heard from Seth Lord who shared his testimony about being bullied in middle school. Seth encouraged our students to see the tongue as the scripture says, like聽rudder. The tongue聽is small but mighty, and we ought to use it to bless rather than curse! Seth聽also led students in worship along with alumni, Evan Hayes, 2014.

Also giving back was Alumni, Madison Humphries who was the guest speaker on Day 2, sharing how the character decisions she made in middle school prepared her to be the woman she is today! Students were challenged with God’s word, loved on, given lots of room to play and form new friendships, and blessed to get to know their teachers outside of the classroom setting!

One thing is sure, “dead week” is a great week for life at The Brook Middle School!
