Kindergarten, third grade and fifth grade have been busy in science class
Science lab was such a great experience for our kindergarteners. They have been learning about weather and they made their own tornado. Mrs. Brindley gave our third graders a hands-on-project in science lab. Their assignment was to create a model of our solar system that included all of the planets. It also needed to include the sun and the asteroid belt. All celestial bodies need to be correctly labeled and ordered. The smallest ones should be used to represent the rocky midgets, or inner planets, and the larger planets needed to represent the gas giants, or outer planets. They hit a home room with including and labeling all other celestial bodies like stars, moon, and some even had their own stars and planets. Science was also rather yummy for fifth grade. They have been on an adventure on the ship JOIDES Resolution and have faced tremendous obstacles as they tried to observe below Earth’s surface. After all, the only layer of the earth that people had ever been able to actually observed was the crust. However, research geologists are always trying to learn what is under the crust by taking what they call core samples. Our 5th graders used basic core sampling techniques to learn what kinds of layers are in an unknown sample-a cupcake.
