Junior College Trip

4 Colleges, 20 miles, and Go Carts.
The Junior Class recently returned from a college trip which included tours and presentations from Texas A & M, UT Austin, Baylor, and Texas State University, 20 miles of walking over three days, and a chance to showcase strategy and precision on the racetrack.
Oh, it was such fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed 听overhearing comments throughout the college tours such as, 鈥淚 love this campus鈥�, 鈥淭his campus is definitely not for me鈥�, 鈥淚 want to be part of this campus鈥ow!鈥�, 鈥淚 could never see myself on this campus鈥�, 鈥淗ow do people sleep in such a small space?鈥�, 鈥淚 love the size of the dorm rooms鈥�, 鈥淭hat college cafeteria was the best food ever鈥�, 鈥淚 could not find anything I liked to eat in that cafeteria鈥� and so on and so on. It is delightful to listen to the conversations that are sparked when students are actually on the college campuses and realize that as juniors the application process is right around the corner. I do believe that there is a college for everyone鈥攁 right fit鈥攁 place where God wants them to be.
One of my favorite comments was from one of our alumni who so succinctly summed up the college experience. She said, 鈥淵ou know, college is a little different than what I had expected. In all reality college is pretty much 听more school–just in a different place.鈥� I loved it–it is exactly what students should be asking themselves. 鈥淲here do I want to go to school to learn what I need to learn to be able to get the job that I want to have?鈥�

This week the juniors made a journey of epic proportions, traveling vast distances, visiting exotic lands, eating exquisite cuisines. Epic.
Well, maybe it wasn’t exactly epic, but they did visit Texas A&M, Texas State, UT, and Baylor. They ate at sundry restaurants on San Antonio’s River Walk. Oh, and during a bit of downtime, they got crazy on a roller coaster. For toddlers. (Observe the looks of determination and unfiltered awesomeness on the faces of the students in the photo).
