Jennifer Mitchell named Teacher of the Year

Meet Jennifer Mitchell

Mrs. Mitchell has been teaching Upper School math at 91猫先生 since 2022. Jennifer has made herself a constant and steady presence for her students. It is not unusual to find her here early, doors open, ready to sit beside a student who needs one more explanation, one more example, or simply one more dose of confidence before the day begins. She understands that for many students math is as much about courage as it is about content, and she consistently gives them both.

She is not content to simply maintain what has always been done. Jennifer is willing to try new approaches in her classroom, to experiment with tools and strategies that better reach students, and to reflect honestly on what is working. That same spirit extends to her colleagues. She encourages others to take instructional risks, to integrate technology thoughtfully, and to keep growing in their craft. In partnership with Mrs. Godbold, she has helped support teacher training in both math and technology, making herself available not only to students but to fellow teachers as well.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR

We are honored to announce that the 2025 Teacher of the Year is Jennifer Mitchell.聽

Jennifer not only teaches鈥攕he also challenges and strengthens us as an administration. She brings thoughtful ideas, asks meaningful questions about how we can better support students in math, and advocates for alignment, clarity, and systems that elevate learning across grade levels.

She is well loved by her students, encouraging them without ever lowering expectations. She brings energy to her classroom and is always ready to incorporate a little fun along the way.

We want to share just a few of the things your colleagues said about Jennifer:

鈥淪he communicates proactively about students who are struggling and works to make sure both teachers and families feel supported.鈥
鈥淪he wants more than students just getting through math. She wants them to understand it, and even enjoy it, helping them build confidence that lasts.鈥
鈥淪he partners incredibly well with support staff, making sure students with accommodations are fully supported through thoughtful, student-centered systems.鈥
鈥淪tudents consistently speak highly of her. They value her structure, her clarity, and her willingness to help鈥攁nd they continue to seek her out even after they leave her class.鈥
鈥淪he is organized, intentional, and always available. You can see it in the number of students who come to her for extra help.鈥
鈥淪he brings energy to the classroom and invests in the broader life of the school.鈥

Mrs. Mitchell, thank you for not simply teaching math, but for strengthening the people and the program around you. In doing so, you leave a lasting imprint on our students and our school. You lead by example, and your work is not only seen鈥攊t is deeply appreciated. Congratulations on being named the 2026 Teacher of the Year.
