Interested in Lacrosse?

From the desk of Tony Welty, Director of Finance & Operations:

Every so often, an extraordinary athlete bursts onto the scene of their respective sport. Michael Jordan. Mario Lemieux. Jerry Rice. These guys were the very best of the best players in the world. So much so, everyone else had to change the way they played in order to try and keep up. This type of player truly changes the game.

In the world of college lacrosse, one of these 鈥榬arified air鈥 kind of players was a Canadian kid named Tom Marechek, a young player who took the lacrosse world by storm as a freshman at Syracuse University. As a sophomore goalie on Ole Miss鈥 club lacrosse team, I occasionally caught part of a Syracuse game on T.V. and can remember thinking, 鈥淭hank the Lord we don鈥檛 play Syracuse!鈥

Coupled with two other legends of lacrosse, Paul and Gary Gait, Tom Marechek and the Syracuse Orangemen captured back-to-back National Championships in 1989 and 1990. They were an unstoppable force as they changed the way lacrosse was played around the crease (that little circle around the cage, um, goal).

So, as a former player and huge fan of lacrosse, you can imagine how excited I was to learn that this same legend of lacrosse is coming to Tyler, Texas in June! Through his organization Tom Marachek鈥檚 All Pro Lax Camps, Tom and his band of top notch coaches are coming south to teach the next generation of lacrosse players to learn and love the 鈥榝astest game on two feet.鈥

The camp will be offered on June 15th to June 16th at the Cumberland Academy playing fields. If you鈥檙e interested in learning to play lacrosse, I highly recommend this camp. Tom and his coaching staff are literally the very best at what they do. Game changers indeed.

You can register for the two-day clinic by following this link: . The cost of the clinic is $150 and includes an Under Armour head worth $9
