Guard lose in PKs at Dallas Christian
MESQUITE — 91èÏÈÉú came within a penalty shootout of knocking off district-leading Dallas Christian on Tuesday night, but ultimately fell short.
91èÏÈÉú got goals from Chidiebere Nechi and Victor Loolo with Chasca Ortega assisting on both tallies to end regulation tied at 2-2.
That meant a penalty shootout would determine the winner. 91èÏÈÉú received successful penalty kicks from Michael Nwasu, Jacob Dumesnil and Ortega, but missed twice whereas Dallas Christian only missed once to win the shootout 4-3.
Despite the loss, Guard coach David Collins was pleased with his teams effort.
“Our defense played well,” Collins said. “We got solid contributions from Michael Nwasu, Mac Rose, Sam Nechi and Jacob Dumesnil. Our goalkeeper, Edikan Essien also had 9 saves.”
The loss dropped 91èÏÈÉú to 3-4 in the TAPPS Division II District 2 standings with a game scheduled for Saturday at Tyler Bishop Gorman.
