Fifth grade colonists visit Colonial Williamsburg
While studying the expansion of colonies into the New World, 91èÏÈÉú fifth graders focus in on Williamsburg, Virginia. They study how the colonists dressed, worked, went to school, attended church, spent their free time and bought their supplies. The subject of slavery is also addressed, and the culture of the slaves at that time is discussed. To make history come alive, the fifth grade teachers set up a colonial village where the students could rotate through centers and have a hands on experience of what that part of colonial life would be like. Hopefully we have inspired families to take a summer vacation to the real Colonial Williamsburg and make learning come alive.
