Our boarding community had a tailgate party before Friday night’s game. We grilled burgers, had a water balloon toss, competed in a three-legged race, and raced to find, chew, and blow bubble gum that was hidden in whipped cream! The best part, however, was hanging out with one another, and enjoying one another’s company.

A group of boarding students traveled with Mrs. Albea to Dallas for a sophisticated and fun weekend trip. Students began the day by attending “Dracula”, a ballet, at the AT&T Fine Arts Center in Dallas. This summer our boys football team moved all of our boarding students boxes. As a way of聽thanking the football team for moving their belongings,聽our students treated the football team to three cakes at lunch! 聽
Kris Mathis, our new Boarding College Guidance Counselor, met with senior boarding students this week to talk about college readiness and the application process. Mr. Mathis will be working closely with these students to help them succeed in the college application process and make wise choices!

Mr. Rhoads took 17 students and his family to the Mequite Rodeo this past weekend.聽They enjoyed a real Texas rodeo, many for the first time and even had聽a special box provided by Tres Smith and Cavendar鈥檚. The students saw calf roping, steer roping, and bull riding. It was聽a good ol’ Texas Saturday night!
Our boarding community celebrated the new year, with new friends, at our annual Luau Party! We had an awesome first week, and are ready for another great year!
On Friday night we celebrated our senior boarding students and their families with a special dessert in the lobby of the American Freedom Museum. We took time to honor each graduate, give them a gift, and write encouraging notes for them. We also enjoyed ice cream, desserts, and coffee!
