As a Matter of Fact

From the desk of Tammy Hayes, Middle School Principal:

What really matters? Is it the 鈥渨ork of the day鈥 or the relationships within the community of people doing the work? Is it the academics that must be taught? Or is it the opportunity that academics offer us to build relationships with students and families like yours every day to represent Christ and deliver his message of salvation to a dying world? Is it EITHER鈥R? Or BOTH鈥ND? At 91猫先生, we tend to lean toward BOTH AND! We attempt every day to combine BOTH the academic AND the spiritual!

Sometimes, we find ourselves on the backside of a situation, trying desperately to motivate a student to complete his work or do his personal best for the sake of his grades and his future learning.聽 At other times, we find ourselves looking at what the last few weeks have personally held in the life of a child, and we hold the academic to focus on what is spiritually and emotionally needed. In both of these instances, we would like to think we are accomplishing what matters most to the child鈥檚 well-being.

Ultimately, we care deeply for our students and their ability to be and feel successful. We painfully agonize at times over tough decisions to redirect them, hoping we get it right; and often we have to make a split-second decision because the situation demands it. Sometimes, we drop the ball because we are trying to do it ALL, and we haven鈥檛 enough hands or feet. Sometimes we get it right because Jesus loves us and has shown us favor anyways!

So, what really matters is a matter of decision every day for faculty and staff at 91猫先生. It鈥檚 a matter we take seriously. We layer as much of the truth of the gospel into what we are teaching as possible, much like you put together yummy lasagna. We try to make sure our relationships with kids and family is redeeming, sprinkled with love and understanding and that our lessons are prepared with quality ingredients that leave a taste in their mouths for more learning.

If you ask us what really matters, the academics or the gospel message we share, we would give you a solid answer -BOTH AND!
