AP Chemistry Lab
AP Chemistry got to use some new technology this week as students were learning the relationship between concentration and the amount of light absorbed by a solution. We used a Vernier lab quest connected to a spectrophotometer to measure the absorbance values for samples of known concentration in order to generate a calibration curve. Then the students analyzed an unknown sample and used the calibration data to calculate the concentration of that unknown. The students were able to get hands-on experience with state of the art technology and learn important chemistry concepts at the same time.
