From the desk of Sandra Fritcher, Lower School Principal:

We have completed the first quarter of the 2016-2017 school year, and are almost halfway through the second quarter.聽 It almost seems as if we never had summer.聽 All of our students have settled into the new year, and learning is happening in every single classroom.聽 It is exciting to walk the halls and see all the involvement.聽 This is an exciting time for the Lower School.聽 It is our twelfth year, and we have several victories or triumphs or celebrations that I want to share with you.

First, our enrollment is 272 students, PK-5^th grade.聽 This is amazing!聽 God has blessed us with great new students and families to join our wonderful returning students and families.聽 Because of the increased enrollment, we also added a third 2^nd grade classroom.聽 Now we have three PK classes, three kindergarten classes, three 1^st grade classes, and three 2^nd grade classes.聽 We are truly growing, and it just feels good!

We also added new staff this year.聽 Mrs. JoAnn Batis is our new 2^nd grade teacher.聽 She comes with years of teaching experience to share with our students.聽 Mrs. Judy Brown is our new 3^rd grade teacher, and she also has years of experience teaching students.聽 Mrs. Dyana Noriega is our new Spanish teacher.聽 Spanish is her native language, and she is bringing a new dimension to our Spanish enrichment program.聽 Mrs. Gayla McKnight is the reading intervention teacher for the Lower School.聽 She is a Certified Academic Language Therapist, and is also a licensed dyslexia teacher.聽 Her expertise provides additional support for our reading program.聽 Mrs. Amy Fitzgerald joined 1^st grade as the instructional assistant, Mrs. Lisa Barney is our new instructional assistant for 2^nd grade and the library, and Mrs. Mallory Simmons is the new p.e. assistant.聽 A most wonderful addition to Lower School is our full-time nurse, Ms. Brandi Franks.聽 She is just perfect for little children because she can see all the invisible spots that need band aids.聽 God has blessed us with all these outstanding new people to join the already amazing Lower School staff.

In addition to the new students, families, and staff at the Lower School, we also have four new classrooms.聽 These four new rooms now complete our building.聽 Fourth grade and afternoon Cadet Club are using these rooms right now, and it is wonderful having this additional space.

Have you noticed our new parking lot?聽 We are so excited, and thankful, for this area.聽 Now we have plenty of parking for staff and families and guests.聽 It is hard to believe that we have just parked on a dirt lot all these years.聽 The asphalt looks like gold to all of us.聽 Because of this new space, we have added a second afternoon pick-up location.聽 This has improved the pick-up procedure greatly.聽 Having both the front location and the south location for afternoon pick-ups allows us to complete pick-ups in about half the time.

The 91猫先生 Lower School is truly God鈥檚 school.聽 He has consistently blessed this school since it started twelve years ago.聽 We are so thankful for this new school year, and the blessings that God has already given.聽 It is going to be a 鈥渕ore than wonderful鈥� year.
