From the desk of Ginger Bell, Director of Family and Alumni Relations:
One year, that’s all it took for 91èÏÈÉú to greatly impact the life of Mike Zink, ’12, and his family.
Mike came to 91èÏÈÉú from Florida to be closer to his older brother and his family, after their father suddenly passed away.  Mike’s mother made the bittersweet decision to send Mike to Texas and to 91èÏÈÉú after much prayer.  And, Mrs. Zink says, “Being involved at 91èÏÈÉú with the prayer group and the amazing activities was one of the highlights of our lives. I truly mean that. There are no words to express how much the school means to us.”
Mike quickly made his place at 91èÏÈÉú.  During that senior year, his class schedule was loaded with college courses, advanced physics, AP English Lit and Advanced History.  He was set up well to enter LeTourneau University upon graduation.  His year at 91èÏÈÉú and playing football for the Guard also set him up well to start a Rugby team in Longview!  Implementing drills he learned from football at 91èÏÈÉú, Mike’s team actually went to the playoffs in their first year and continue that winning tradition to this day.  Contact Mike on Facebook to get a schedule and catch a game when you are in Longview.
But, Rugby isn’t the only thing going on for Mike.  While majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the university, he has also been interning for Sun Hydraulik GmbH over the summers and has just accepted an internship for this summer in Erkelenz, Germany!  So proud for Mike and how he uses his gifts so well!
