From the desk of Sandra Fritcher, Lower School Principal:

Summer is over, the school year has started, and what a great start it has been!聽 On the first day, I walked up and down the halls, went in classrooms, stayed through both lunches, and I just marveled at how blessed we are at the Lower School.聽 We have more than wonderful children, parents, and staff.聽 Who could ask for more?聽 God has truly provided and blessed and guided the Lower School, but how can that be described?聽 How can that be put into words?聽 Who are we, and what do we do at the Lower School? 聽Here is what I think.

The 91猫先生 Lower School is a family of educators who are committed to God in a real and personal way.聽 They live out this commitment by working with children and their families.聽 The result is a community of people who work together to produce an accelerated and rigorous educational program that is grounded in and woven throughout with Biblical truth.

The 91猫先生 Lower School also strives to live out our mission statement every day.聽 We offer a strong academic program that has worthy content.聽 It is meaningful for our children, and it is also a balanced curriculum based on state and national standards.聽 We incorporate developmentally appropriate instructional activities in PK-5^th grade.聽 One grade level鈥檚 instructional goals flow into the next grade level so there is a continuum of learning all the way through the Lower School.

We concentrate heavily on teaching reading and math because we know these two skills are foundational for all other learning.聽 Bible, spelling, grammar, writing, social studies, history, science, and physical education instruction are also taught weekly to all students, and this instruction is woven throughout with Biblical truth.聽 Teachers integrate or combine subjects when it is appropriate, and students are taught to think 鈥渙utside the box鈥� with higher level thinking.聽聽 Also included in the Lower School curriculum are art, music, library, and computer/technology instruction.聽 Optional instruction in learning to play a string instrument is available, and a select choir, Cadet Singers, is available for grades 3-5.聽 Art academies are offered after school.

In addition to the academic focus, we are very interested in helping our children make good behavior choices in all situations.聽 Godly character attributes are modeled by the staff and also taught to our students.聽 It is a part of who we are.聽 We desire for each student to develop an inner character that is Christ-like.聽 Each teacher creates a classroom environment to help the students learn what this means, and they are gracious but firm in managing student behavior.

The Lower School has smaller classes in order to provide a better learning environment for all students.聽 Eighteen students per class is our desired maximum class size.聽 This allows for more individual attention, as well as more individualized instruction to occur.聽 Our PK and kindergarten classes have full-time instructional assistants in the classroom.聽 There are also instructional assistants assigned to grades 1^st through 5^th.

I could go on and on about the Lower School.聽 The bottom line is we all love children, we all love learning, and we all love teaching children to love learning.聽 Most of all, we love to honor God each and every day with all that we do.聽 Our students are happy, our parents are happy, and our staff is happy.聽 I think the 91猫先生 Lower School is just like school should be for everyone, and I hope you do, too!
