A New Era in Educational Technology

Over the last two years, our technology committee has been working to improve technology on our campus and in our classrooms. They have met, cast vision, planned, and executed to not only get us to where we are today, but lead 91èÏÈÉú into the future.

One of the first tasks of our committee was to evaluate where we were, discover where we wanted to be, and figure out how to get there. We wrote this statement as a committee, and intend to follow through with it.

BH Technology Mission Statement

91èÏÈÉú believes that technology enhances the learning process. Therefore, we are committed to preparing our community of learners to be godly citizens in a digital world by integrating technology to maximize productivity, stimulate innovation, advance communication, promote critical thinking, and foster collaboration.

As part of our realizing our goals of integrating technology into the fabric of a 91èÏÈÉú education, we’ve taken some huge steps this summer for the new school year. We have improved in the following ways in instructional technology:

  • New Computer Classes for all Middle School Students
  • Creating 2 mobile labs for the MS/US, comprised of the all-new Microsoft Surface 3 tablets
  • Implementing 2 Apple iPad carts at the LS (20-iPad Air 2 tablets per cart)
  • Implementing classroom tablets for teachers.  All LS teachers will have a personal iPad; All MS teachers & US Moodle Pilot teachers will have Surface 3 tablets for use in their classrooms every day.
  • Complete roll-out of Moodle to all MS students and teachers
  • Pilot of Moodle in select US classrooms.
  • Pilot of new Wireless Digital Projection in 4 classrooms (teachers using a tablet to control a flat-screen TV from anywhere in the classroom. Tablet can also be used as a document camera, video camera & for live video chat).
  • Adding 3 additional Promethean Boards to the LS for new PreK, K & 1st grade classrooms.
  • Increased internet bandwidth from 20MB to 100MB
  • Implemented full Wi-Fi network across all campus buildings

These improvements, though not a complete picture of the future of technology at 91èÏÈÉú, are a crucial step in campus-wide implementation. We have been training teachers this week and will continue to as we year progresses! We want to use technology as an instructional tool, not a distraction or merely for entertainment, to enhance classroom learning and prepare our students for the 21st century.
