A New Chapter in 91èÏÈÉú Boys Basketball

91èÏÈÉú Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach Wally Dawkins is stepping down as Boys Head Basketball Coach at 91èÏÈÉú after 6 seasons. Dawkins will remain as Athletic Director and Development Department Assistant.

Dawkins who has been a Head Coach for 33 years, has compiled 689 career wins. In his six years at 91èÏÈÉú, the Guard have won 125 games for an average of just over 20 wins per season while losing 60. Under Dawkins, the 91èÏÈÉú Boys Varsity advanced to the State Final Four in 2009, 2010, and 2014, and played in the Regional Championship game in 2012 & 2013. Combining his last two years at Chapel Hill, 19 seasons at Whitehouse, and his six at 91èÏÈÉú, Dawkins coached teams have had a winning record for 27 years in a row.

Dawkins will now focus on developing 91èÏÈÉú Middle School Basketball while working with 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Boys.

91èÏÈÉú is very excited to announce at this time that Jacob Agnew, 91èÏÈÉú Varsity Assistant and JV Boys Basketball Coach for three seasons will replace Dawkins as the 91èÏÈÉú Head Boys Basketball Coach. Agnew, who teaches math at 91èÏÈÉú and who was recently named as the Upper School 2013-2014 “Teacher of the Year,” played collegiately at Lubbock Christian. Agnew has worked with Coach Dawkins with Varsity, JV, and Middle School teams during his tenure at 91èÏÈÉú.

“Jacob Agnew is a rising star as a teacher and coach” Dawkins says of his replacement. “He has a great relationship with the kids, is very smart about the game of basketball, and works hard every day to get the most out of our players.  Jacob is the right guy for the job and I have all the confidence in the world that he will take our Boys Basketball program to even greater heights.  We hope to have Jacob as a part of our 91èÏÈÉú family for many years to come.”

Agnew is already working, organizing summer activities for 91èÏÈÉú Boys Basketball including games, camps, and individual work.
