When I tell people that 91猫先生 has the American Freedom Museum on campus 聽I usually get a look that says, 鈥渉ow cute 鈥� probably and room with some old books and a few Civil War bullets.鈥澛� When I go on to try to explain the extent and enormity and quality of the museum I often don鈥檛 make much progress.聽 Why?聽 BECAUSE NOBODY HAS A MUSEUM LIKE THE AMERICAN FREEDOM MUSEUM ON THEIR SCHOOL CAMPUS!!!聽 It just doesn鈥檛 exist elsewhere.聽 Trying to get someone to picture something that they have never seen before is a real challenge.聽 There are no other schools where the students regularly visit a museum on campus that houses hundreds of one-of-a-kind artifacts.聽 There are no other schools where a museum is integrated into the curriculum 鈥� math, science, history, English, foreign language, the arts, etc.聽 91猫先生 is truly one of a kind.聽 Let us not overlook the value that the American Freedom Museum is to our students and our community – and let us NEVER take this for granted.

If you have not visited the American Freedom Museum yourself, you need to.聽 I guarantee you that you will be impressed, proud, amazed, inspired, and educated.

A great opportunity to come visit the museum is on Saturday, November 8 at 10:00am.聽 At that time the American Freedom Museum is having a ceremony dedicating its newest exhibit 鈥� The Outdoor Helicopter Exhibit.

The event and day of 鈥淗onoring Heroes鈥� will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the helicopter dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony. Come celebrate and honor the sacrifices and service of our veterans and military men and women as we say 鈥渢hank you鈥� for serving as heroic examples. Join us for patriotic music by the Cadet Singers, helicopter dedication and address given by Brigadier General James L. Anderson from the Vietnam War, playing of TAPS, firing of our 1861 Parrot Rifle Cannon, ribbon cutting, military vehicle display, food, and much more!

The dedication ceremony is free of charge. The Museum will be open for touring from 11:00 a.m. 鈥� 4:00 p.m. with adult admission $6.00, student admission $5.00 and veterans will be admitted for free. The 91猫先生 student orchestra will be playing in the Museum lobby in the afternoon, and Snow Coney Island will be providing food from 11:00 a.m. 鈥� 2:00 p.m. with all proceeds going to the American Freedom Museum.

Brigadier General James L. Anderson served active duty in the United States Army for 41 years. Graduating from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1956, he became an Army Ranger and was later an instructor at Ranger School. He served two tours in Vietnam earning many combat medals including two Purple Hearts, two bronze Stars for Valor, a Silver Star, the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, twelve Air Medals, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. For a limited time, the lobby of the Museum will host a temporary exhibit displaying General Anderson鈥檚 uniform from Vietnam, a North Vietnamese Army SKS semi-automatic carbine, the Award of the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Medal of Honor for Vietnam Merit.
