A Healthy School 鈥� A Healthy Board of Trustees

HEADLINES: A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL, ROD FLETCHER

One of the trademarks of a healthy private school is a healthy Board of Trustees.

We are blessed at 91猫先生 to have an incredibly healthy Board 鈥� they are collaborators, problem solvers, and work to promote and enhance 91猫先生. Together they are of one mind functioning as the 鈥渒eepers鈥� of the mission, vision, and core values of the school.

Specifically, the Board Policy Manual states:

鈥淭he Board of Trustees of 91猫先生 has four principal responsibilities as follows:听

a)听听听The Board organizes and manages itself so as to fulfill its duties to the school.听听

b)听听听The Board selects the Head of School and works cooperatively with that person.听

c)听听听The Board plans, develops, and establishes policy, and assesses the performance of the school.听

d)听听听听The Board is responsible for the school’s financial condition and its physical plant.鈥�

听And the Board Bylaws state,

鈥淭he Board of Trustees is charged with the responsibility to establish policy for the School and has ultimate responsibility for the execution of the policy established. The Board of Trustees鈥� primary responsibilities includes oversight of the mission of the school, the fiduciary concerns of the institution, developing broad policy for the institution, financial oversight, supporting/evaluating the Head of School, and establishing, supporting, and funding the strategic plan. Upon the recommendation of The Executive Committee, The Board of Trustees will meet to decide on appeals made concerning the decisions of the Head of School.鈥�
