5th Grade Constellations & Lower School Science

Our 5th graders have been learning about space and constellations in preparation for their NASA trip to Houston. Instead of paying for a star as some businesses are advertising these days, the 5th graders designed a constellation and made a model on black paper by punching holes. Then students wrote some of the coolest papers Mrs. Brindley has ever read!

The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders all made a Planisphere. Students discovered that constellations do not always appear in the same position in the sky. We predicted when and where a particular constellation will be visible based upon the earth’s rotation.
